Violin:
Stephan performed classical and jazz violin music in Europe at various festivals and radio stations since 1974. After moving to Benicia in 1997 he founded the Benicia Celtic Band and has been performing Scottish fiddle music at various local venues.
Piano:
Stephan has a masters certificate in piano and has performed classical as well as jazz piano in Europe and the US at various venues and on radio. He often shares with his students why he admires Beethoven and Chick Corea.
Guitar:
Stephan is also an accomplished guitarist. He studied classical as well as Jazz Guitar and is happy to support his students in all styles from pop, rock, folk to classical and Jazz.
Drums:
As a drummer, Stephan is solid, has great feel and excellent technique.
Stephan's strength lies in his ability to customize his teaching to the strengths of each individual student.

Dr. Stephan Betz has practiced Music Therapy for 35 years in Europe, Australia and the U.S. Taking Music Therapy to the community, he received the American Music Therapy Award for Professional Excellence, the Contra Costa and Alameda Developmental Disabilities Council Award for Contributions to the Community as well as Honorary Awards by the California State Assembly, State Senate, and the U.S. Congress. Stephan has lectured at universities in Europe and has recently published in the national Early Childhood magazine “image”. Stephan's motto is "Changing the world one child at a time".

Music Therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program. Dr. Stephan Betz provides music therapy to children affected with Autism and related disorders. He is using an attachment based approach because attachment to their parent eases kids’ anxiety.
