Vallejo's Music School
Step Up Music is a modern teaching space offering one-on-one instruction in a variety of instruments, as well as seminars, concerts, group lessons and weekly jam sessions.

What you get
- You will learn a solid foundation of theory, reading and repertoire, as traditionally taught and proven effective.
- You also get a creative and more right-brained approach that is fun and easily accessible. Based on imitation and self expression this approach is as old as learning itself, as it mimicks learning music like learning a language. Inspired by world renowned musicians, who are Step Up Teacher's mentors, such as Victor Wooten, Steve Bailey, Kai Eckhardt, Chuck Rainey and others, you will study improvisation, learn by ear and by rote, and through feeling rhythm in your bones.

When do you offer lessons?
We offer morning, afternoon and evening hours. We have classes suitable for absolute beginners and are able to provide instruments for our group classes.
When can I drop by?
Come by Mondays through Thursdays between 4.00 and 6.00pm.
How much does music instruction at Step Up cost?
Private Lessons:Private lessons $30.00 per half hour ($130.00 per month)
Private lessons $45.00 per 45 minutes ($195.00 per month)
Private lessons $60.00 per hour ($260.00 per month)
Monthly payments cover four to five lessons a month
Group Classes:
We offer Early Bird prices and Step Up Student specials for group classes. Watch for announcements.

One-on-one LESSONS
We provide one-on-one instruction on the following instruments:
PIANO Piano Lessons for beginners and advanced players. All styles, including advanced Jazz and Classical. We also teach Pop and Rock Piano and songwriting. We put great emphasis on improvisation, composition and singing. Study with Monica, Wayne, Rhonda or Ariane.
BASS Bass lessons for all levels and styles. Learn to groove! Expand your stylistic knowledge, know your way around the fretboard, improvise, train your ear, learn to read! Learn special techniques such as tapping and slapping or using a looper. Study with Wolf, Rob or Ariane.
GUITAR Guitar instruction in all styles - from electric to acoustic guitar, finger picking, strumming, soloing, songwriting. Learn about sounds, pedal board magic and how to use a looper. Study with Rob or Wolf.
VOCALS Learn to sing with proper technique and expressive musicality! Write songs with our teachers. Study with Raymond.
DRUMS Start on the pad and build great technique from the get-go. All styles. Study with Bob or Matt.
VIOLIN Beginner violin instruction from a very patient and passionate teacher. Great with kids, inspiring for adults. Study with Melissa
FLUTE - SAXOPHONES - CLARINET Classical, world music and Jazz, reading and improvising, technique and expression. Study with John.
Our instructors have advanced College Degrees as musicians and/or music educators and are busy performers. All of them have at least five years of teaching experience, many have decades of teaching under their belts.
Most have had teaching training from masterful educators like Doug Goodkin or Victor Wooten and additional training in learning methods such as NLP.
